Why porcelain and not ceramic for children's tableware?

The main difference between porcelain and ceramic lies in their material composition and firing temperature. Porcelain is made from kaolin, quartz, and feldspar and is characterized by a high melting point, while ceramic is typically made from clay and fired at lower temperatures. Porcelain has a finer, denser, almost translucent surface, which makes it particularly valuable and elegant – but also more robust. This density ensures that porcelain is less porous and therefore less susceptible to stains or odors – ideal for use as children's tableware.

Why is porcelain better than bamboo, melamine & co?

Most bamboo products contain only a minimal amount of bamboo fibers and consist largely of synthetic resin (melamine, short for melamine-formaldehyde condensation resins). Thus, bamboo tableware is neither more sustainable than melamine nor healthier. Both are prone to hairline cracks and release toxic formaldehyde when heated. That's why, for us, porcelain or ceramic is the only sustainable and healthy choice for children.

What age is the children's tableware suitable for?

Our children's tableware set, which includes a cup and bowl, is ideal for children from about 6 months, as soon as they start to eat or drink by themselves.

How long can my child use the porcelain children's tableware?

The porcelain children's tableware is durable and can be used for many years. It has sufficient capacity, so older children will also enjoy drinking tea, hot chocolate, or water from it. With good care, it can even accompany your children throughout their lives. It is suitable for children from about 6 months. But we also enjoy drinking our cappuccino from it in the morning.

As long as they do not hit hard, sharp edges, they usually survive falls from a table onto a wooden floor unscathed. Is your porcelain only suitable for children?

No, it is ergonomically shaped for children's hands, but it also works wonderfully as a cup for adults or a bowl for small snacks.
