For the Zaunkönig®, we use only high-quality oak from sustainably managed forests in the region. The wood is sanded and treated with a natural oil. Our children’s furniture is free of harmful chemicals and safe for your child.

We use only a natural, plant-based hard wax oil for sealing. This preserves the natural feel of the oak wood – while also protecting the surface from moisture and dirt. The surface can be re-oiled as needed when it shows signs of wear.

The Zaunkönig® Liv high chair is ideal for children starting at about 9 months, as soon as they can sit up on their own (up to about 3 years or 15 kg). It can be used as a learning tower starting at about 2 years of age. As a play furniture piece or bench, it will last a lifetime.

The Zaunkönig® Liv is made of solid oak, not particleboard. Its weight of about 12 kg gives it a stable base – without the need for wide legs. It has passed all tip-over tests as part of its safety inspections. As a high chair, it has been tested and certified according to DIN 14988:2017-11.

As with any piece of furniture, a level, stable surface is essential. Never leave your child unattended and stay within reach. Even a certified piece of furniture can tip over – for example, if your child pushes the legs against the table or another object.

The Zaunkönig® Liv is available in a size of 40 cm x 37.5 cm x 85 cm (W x D x H) and weighs about 12 kg. It is the only reversible piece of furniture on the market that is made of solid wood rather than panel material. Thanks to its own weight, it remains stable despite its small footprint or wide legs – yet it’s still easy to move or rotate. This allows it to support you in various everyday situations and rooms.

The Zaunkönig® Liv has seat surfaces of different sizes depending on its function – you don’t need to make any adjustments; just rotate or flip it.

With the folding cushion as a backrest, your baby sits securely in the high chair on a 22 × 33 cm seat. Without the safety rail and backrest, the seating area expands to 32.5 × 33 cm, providing a comfortable seat for toddlers. Your child can already sit independently and climb in and out on their own.

When turned around, the Zaunkönig® Liv becomes a learning tower that can also be used as a seat. The 32.5 × 33 cm seat offers space even for teenagers and slender adults, making it a versatile piece of furniture for different stages of life and rooms. When laid flat, it becomes a bench. With a surface area of 82 × 33 cm, it can accommodate two to three children or even two adults side by side.

The Zaunkönig® Liv is extremely sturdy and has been supporting us for many years – whether carrying two children or two adults on the bench, or serving as a step stool. However, the official maximum weight capacity is approximately 80 kg.

The package includes the Zaunkönig® Liv, the folding cushion, the care kit, the safety guard, a small tool, and easy-to-follow assembly instructions. All parts for the safety guard are pre-assembled, making installation quick and easy.

No, the Zaunkönig® Liv comes fully assembled. No assembly, no modifications – just unpack it, enjoy it, and get started! The safety guard for the high chair is secured with just three screws. A small tool and instructions are included in the package.

The Zaunkönig® Liv can be used as a high chair with or without the safety guard – depending on your child’s age. It attaches easily, quickly, and securely with three screws. And it’s already included with the Zaunkönig® Liv.

For your child’s first attempts at sitting (ages 9 months and up), we recommend using the safety guard. Once your child is a bit older and can sit steadily and independently, the high chair can also be used without the safety guard (as a junior chair) so your child can sit with you at the dining table or living room table.

Yes, that’s exactly what it’s designed for. With a seat height of 58 cm, your child will be at eye level with you – at the dining table, the kitchen table, or the living room table. This seat height works very well with most tables, which range in height from 74 to 78 cm. The top edge of the safety guard is at 72.5 cm – so it’s usually slightly below the table edge.

For the first few months at the table (starting at about 9 months), we recommend using the safety guard, which is included with your purchase. As soon as your child can sit steadily and independently, you can remove it – and the high chair becomes a junior chair.

Our tray is available as an optional accessory for the high chair. It’s a small tabletop made of solid oak, with excellent qualities and, just like our Zaunkönig® Liv, handcrafted. It attaches securely to the Zaunkönig® with a single screw.

The Zaunkönig® is primarily designed for indoor use. On nice days, you can of course take it outside – for example, onto the patio or into the garden.

However, please always ensure it is placed on a stable, level surface. In addition, the Zaunkönig® Liv should not be permanently exposed to the elements, such as rain or moisture, to ensure the wood remains protected over the long term and does not crack.
